PATERSON, Feb. 9th, 1856.
Hon. P. DICKERSON
The "Paterson Educational Association" respectfully solicits the privilege of publishing the Lecture delivered by you before that body on the 21st January, 1856, in order that the valuable information contained in it may be better preserved and more generally disseminated.
By order of the Executive Committee.
To THE "PATERSON EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION":
As it was by your request that I made the Lecture upon the Past, Present, and Future of our city, at like request I submit it to you for publication, for I hold it to he the duty of every citizen to contribute his mite to encourage the important object of your Association.
And permit me to remark, that although that Association is young, and therefore not much can be said as to its Past, yet its Present is full of hope and promise and if the spirit which now animates you shall continue, the Future must be highly creditable to yourselves and useful to the public.
Very respectfully, yours,
Paterson, Feb'y 11, 1856.
